What you get in Passport to Wellness: 

  • A customized plan called a "Passport" for yourself to get your health needs met. It can include getting HIV tests, learning about methods to protect your health, attending AA meetings, attending our group events, going to yoga

  • Half of the participants will also be assigned a peer mentor to help them with the above

  • For completing the items in your "Passport" you can receive gift cards from Target, up to $220 in value

What we need from you: 

  • Complete 2 interviews
  • For each interview, you'll receive Target gift cards, up to $40 in value each

  • Maintain contact for your time in the project

  • Black men age 18 and over

Investigators and Institutions:

PtW is funded by the California HIV/AIDS Research Program (CHRP), under grant #s TL13-LACA-576 and TL13-UCLA-576.  It is led by Centers on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (LA CADA).  Three academic institutions are involved.  The investigative team is led by Nina Harawa, PhD at the Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and Charles Drew University (CDU), Charles McWells and Charles Hilliard, PhD of CDU, and Ricky Bluthenthal, PhD of USC.  Charles McWells is also a Program Manager at LA CADA.
